SM6/1 latching solenoid A neat little unit for signal (and turnout?) operation. The latching solenoid contains magnets to hold the plunger in place at the end of its travel, so it only needs to draw current to move the plunger. A DPDT passing contact switch (SM6/2) is required, connected to a 12V dc supply. Solenoid dimensions (excluding plunger) are 22mm long, 15mm wide, 10mm deep. The plunger protrudes 9mm when pulled in, and 14½mm when out - a travel of 5½mm. The top of the plunger is threaded M3 for attaching the signal operating wire. An M3 securing screw is supplied, as are two M2 screws for fixing the solenoid to a mounting plate.
