DICHLOROMETHANE plastic solvent (100ml bottle)

A general purpose plastic solvent for modelling, effective on styrene and ABS. It is also sold under the names methylene chloride and plastic weld.

As with all chemicals, care should be taken in its use. A copy of the full safety data sheet can be downloaded as an Adobe Acrobat® file (87kb). In particular:

Keep away from children (even though the bottles are fitted with child-proof caps).
Do not eat, drink or smoke while using it.
Store and use in a well-ventilated place.
Avoid eye and skin contact.
Avoid breathing in the vapour.
In the event of a small spillage, mop up with a cloth or paper towels and dispose of them safely. If you knock over the whole bottle, probably the safest course is to open all windows and leave the room, closing the door behind you. Dichloromethane is extremely volatile, and will thus disperse safely into the outside air.
