S4/KS1 4mm scale SR/BR(S) rail-built post upper quadrant signal kit The Southern Railway began installing this type of signal in the 1930s on all three sections in both new installations and as replacements for the various pre-grouping types still in existence. The design was continued by BR's Southern Region. Some examples are still in use on Railtrack today. The kit can be built as a home or distant signal in any height up to 30ft. The kit is designed for soldered construction, but Araldite or superglue can be used in places, particularly if the finished signal is not intended to operate. Some simple marking out, cutting and shaping of parts is required. To see exactly what is involved in constructing this kit, download the instruction sheet as an Adobe Acrobat® file (119kb). |
