S4/KE5 4mm scale NER slotted post single arm lower quadrant signal kit This kit represents one of the most distinctive signal designs, the North Eastern Railway's slotted post type. It was found mostly on the NER's Southern Division (effectively those lines in Yorkshire). Nearly all had been replaced by the end of steam, particularly by the tubular steel post type (kit S4/KE1). Some may still be seen on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. The kit can be built as a home or distant signal in any height up to 28ft. It is an improved version of the ex-D&S kit 150SK1, incorporating additional parts and comprehensive instructions. The kit is designed for soldered construction, but Araldite or superglue can be used in places, particularly if the finished signal is not intended to operate. Some simple marking out, cutting and shaping of parts is required. To see exactly what is involved in constructing this kit, download the instruction sheet as an Adobe Acrobat® file (141kb). |
